Finding work:

How did the Immigrant Centre help you to find a job in Canada?

My facilitator Vance Taylor, helped me a lot with getting a good resume and a cover letter. He taught me where and how to apply for jobs; based on my experiences. He taught me about interviews; how to answer questions, behave and dress. He was very helpful. Anytime I needed a new resume or any information based on job search he was always ready to help.

What types of job search techniques did you use to find your job?

I usually applied online, dropped my resume at different stores. I also spoke to my friends and family, and lastly I attended a job fair.

What differences have you noticed between working in Canada and working in your home country?

One huge difference I noticed between working in Canada and my home country is that there are many rules and regulations which is good, because people are more respectful in the workplace.

What advice would you give to immigrants and newcomers looking for work

An advice I would give to immigrants would be; to be persistent and positive. It is not going to be easy but you have to continue applying and remain positive even when you do not get the job. You might not get it when you want it, but eventually you will. And remember hard work pays off.
