Volunteer Services

The Immigrant Centre depends on volunteer support in all areas of its day to day operation. Volunteers are essential for one-on-one tutoring in EAL and computers,  and assist in general administration, nutrition and driver’s education classes. They also work with the citizenship preparation course and a host of other activities. A dedicated group of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds give their time, skills and expertise every day under the guidance of the Volunteers Services department.

Some volunteers work two hours a week and some work many hours, with the total time donated being equivalent to over five full time employees. With the help of Volunteer Manitoba and SPARKS, we have been able to place ten Immigrant Centre clients in volunteer positions at other organizations. Four of these clients have gone on to permanent positions with these agencies.
